Skoda Elroq tops Germany's BEV registrations in May 2026 with 3,083 units, edging out VW ID.3 by just 33 cars. Overall EV sales jumped 39.3% year-on-year.
Skoda Elroq is once again the most registered electric car in Germany. According to Kraftfahrt-Bundesamt, in May 2026 the compact electric SUV recorded 3,083 new registrations and reclaimed first place in the BEV ranking.
The gap is symbolic. Volkswagen ID.3 took second place with 3,050 cars — just 33 units behind. Third place went to Skoda Enyaq and its coupe variant: together they collected 2,770 registrations. Tesla Model 3 also returned to the top ten, but the leadership in May stayed with models from the Volkswagen group.
Germany's overall EV market grew sharply in May. According to ADAC, citing KBA, the country registered 59,969 new BEVs, up 39.3% year-on-year. The share of electric cars among all new vehicles reached 25.0%. This shows that EV demand in Germany is strengthening again, although buyers are increasingly choosing more practical compact models rather than the most expensive flagships.
In Europe, buyers are actively switching to mid-size electric SUVs, and it is exactly these models that now compete with the familiar Volkswagen and Tesla bestsellers. For Skoda Elroq, May was another confirmation that the bet on an affordable family electric crossover has paid off.
