Stellantis CEO Antonio Filosa reveals a strategy to offer budget-friendly cars, including Jeep simplifications and a new mid-size Ram, targeting prices below $40,000.

Stellantis has unveiled a new strategy for the U.S. market, focusing on more affordable vehicles. The plan was announced by the company's new CEO, Antonio Filosa, at the 2026 Detroit Auto Show.

According to Filosa, Stellantis aims to bring affordability back to a segment where the average price of a new car in the U.S. has approached $50,000. To achieve this, the company plans targeted price reductions, revised trim levels, and an expanded lineup of more budget-friendly models.

Specifically, some Jeep models will receive simpler versions—stripped of unnecessary features but retaining the brand's key qualities. However, Filosa effectively abandoned the idea of a "people's" electric Jeep priced under $25,000 for North America, which had been discussed earlier.

One of the key announcements was a future new mid-size Ram. Stellantis hopes to strengthen its position in the pickup truck segment, which remains one of the most important for the American market.

The company also announced plans to release more compact and affordable models in the coming months, targeting a price category of up to $40,000. The goal is to offer internal combustion engine alternatives priced below $30,000. The strategy relies on optimizing the model range and technical solutions to keep costs in check.
