Hennessey has revealed the tail end of its second in-house hypercar, Project Overlord, ahead of a full debut on August 3, 2026 at Monterey Car Week.
Hennessey has announced its second in-house hypercar — Project Overlord. The full debut is set for August 3, 2026, ahead of Monterey Car Week. So far the company has shown only the rear of the car, featuring a semi-circular LED taillight and a black mesh grille.
The project has been in development for more than two years. According to company founder John Hennessey, it’s meant to be a lightweight, high-revving car built above all around driver engagement. He has previously called it an American successor to the Porsche Carrera GT. Overlord is being built from the ground up by Hennessey itself and doesn’t use another brand’s production sports car as a base.
The approach marks a clear departure from the Venom F5 philosophy. The current flagship runs a 6.6-liter twin-turbo V8 producing 1,817 hp. While the F5’s main goal was outright top speed, Project Overlord is meant to focus on lower weight, high revs, and driver feel.
Experts expect a manual gearbox may appear, though Hennessey hasn’t confirmed it. The engine, power output, weight, performance, price, and production numbers all remain unknown. That makes it too early to call the newcomer a direct rival to any specific model.
Project Overlord won’t replace the Venom F5 but will occupy its own niche alongside it. One hypercar is meant to showcase maximum power and speed, the other a more traditional driving character.
