Amble One: a 12 kWh electric quadricycle for €20,000, four seats and no doors

Amble One: Europe’s Answer to a Tiny Electric “Lada” Costs €20,000 Amble

Amble One is a street-legal L7e electric quadricycle with a 12 kWh battery, over 100 km of range and a €20,000 starting price. Here’s what it can and can’t do.

Amble One trades excess weight, doors and a powerful motor for a very specific use case. This 3.2-metre electric car only accelerates up to 65 km/h, making it a fit for resorts, small towns, gated communities and short local trips. Taking it out onto a fast highway simply isn’t the point.

The model falls under Europe’s L7e category, meaning it’s legally a heavy quadricycle rather than a passenger car in the M1 class. It weighs about 450 kg, and its rear electric motor produces 15 kW, or roughly 20 hp. The L7e category comes with its own construction and certification requirements, so comparing the Amble One’s crash safety directly to that of a full-size car doesn’t really work.

A 12 kWh battery delivers over 100 km of range. A full charge from a standard 220–230V household outlet takes around 5.5 hours. Fast charging isn’t really necessary here: the idea is that owners simply plug it into a regular outlet after their daily driving. The independent suspension is also tuned for uneven paths and unpaved surfaces.

The cabin uses a 2+2 seating layout, and folding the rear seats creates a flat load area. The open-air body makes getting in and out easier and keeps weight down, but the lack of conventional doors becomes a real limitation in rain, cold weather or heavy city traffic. It’s worth checking before ordering exactly which weather-protection elements are included in the price and which cost extra.

Pricing starts at €20,000 excluding VAT, delivery and local fees. Reserving a slot requires a refundable €100 deposit. Orders for private buyers are being taken for 2028, while 2027 production slots have already been claimed by corporate customers.

The Amble One makes sense as a second vehicle for a hotel, a small town or a coastal resort. At the price of a decent used car, its advantages only really pay off where compactness, simple charging and a low top speed matter more than weather protection or long-distance trips.
