Chery Launches Omoda and Jaecoo PHEVs in Germany
Chery enters Germany with Omoda and Jaecoo PHEVs. Jaecoo 7 starts at €36,900 (90km EV range). Omoda 9 offers 145km range, AWD. 7-year warranty, 99% parts avail.
Chery is officially introducing its Omoda and Jaecoo brands in Germany. Although the launch was initially expected in 2024, the Chinese automaker opted for a more cautious rollout. That meant entering smaller European markets first, followed by Spain, Italy, and the UK, before finally arriving in Germany.
Rather than going all-in on pure EVs, the focus is on plug-in hybrids. Kicking things off is the Jaecoo 7 PHEV, which starts at €36,900. Chery claims it can cover up to 90 km on electric power alone and deliver a combined range of up to 1,200 km. The bigger Omoda 9 PHEV is priced from €52,900. It comes with all-wheel drive, and the company says it manages up to 145 km of electric driving and up to 1,100 km in hybrid mode. Cars already on the ground in Germany should reach customers in three to four weeks.

Chery’s reasoning is pragmatic. The plug-in hybrid segment in Germany has grown noticeably in 2025, and many buyers aren't yet ready to go fully electric. Later, the range will grow with the Omoda 4, 5, and 7, as well as the Jaecoo 5 and 8. Some models could eventually be made closer to Europe, at the EBRO factory in Barcelona.
Trust is the cornerstone. Rather than selling directly to consumers, Omoda and Jaecoo are building a traditional dealership network with proper service facilities. Fifteen dealers are already up and running. By the end of May, the company aims to have 40 signed locations, growing to 100 by year-end. The long-term target is 240 outlets across Germany.
Aware that poor parts availability has hurt other Chinese brands, Chery has set up a central warehouse in Rennerod in partnership with Kühne+Nagel. By launch, the company says, over 99% of parts for the two debut models are available in Germany, with a target delivery time of 24 hours to dealers. The vehicle warranty covers seven years or 150,000 km, while the battery is covered for eight years or 160,000 km.
