Spy shots show 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 getting cleaner tailgate control switches, with single- and two-button layouts unchanged.

The next-generation 2027 model-year Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 will adopt revised tailgate control switches. The change surfaced in prototype spy shots, making it easy to compare the fresh layout with today’s buttons.

The new switches look pared back: the housing is flatter and the outlines are more restrained. By contrast, the current setup is more sculpted, with sharper edges and a button that sits deeper in its surround. The cleaner treatment aligns well with the straightforward character of these trucks.

No functional changes are expected. A single-button switch will remain for trucks with a standard tailgate, handling opening and closing. The two-button layout will continue on the multi-function versions—Multi-Flex for the Silverado and MultiPro for the Sierra—to manage the tailgate’s various positions. Keeping the interface familiar should make the update seamless for owners.
