Chevrolet Silverado 1500 Double Cab production ends April 2, 2026; all-new 2027 model adds sixth-gen V8 and plug-in hybrid
Chevrolet ends Silverado 1500 Double Cab on April 2, 2026. The all-new 2027 brings a sixth-gen V8, plug-in hybrid, refreshed tech and cabin on T1-2 platform.
Chevrolet has confirmed that production of the current-generation Silverado 1500 Double Cab will end on April 2, 2026. This configuration will be the final chapter for the model’s fourth generation, with an all-new iteration set to arrive in 2027 on a fresh platform with updated powertrains.
Assembly of the Silverado 1500 Double Cab is handled at GM’s Fort Wayne plant in Indiana and the Silao facility in Mexico. The Oshawa site in Canada is not involved in building this version.
The 2027 Silverado 1500 is poised for substantial changes, spanning exterior styling, cabin execution, and onboard technology. Under the hood, Chevrolet plans to introduce the sixth-generation Small Block V8, targeting more power alongside a 10% cut in CO2 emissions. The 3.0-liter Duramax diesel and the 2.7-liter L3B turbocharged gasoline engine will remain in the lineup, while a new plug-in hybrid powertrain will join to underscore GM’s move toward electrification. The mix reads as a balanced play for both loyalists and those ready to plug in.
The model will sit on the upgraded T1-2 platform, while the interior is set to gain better materials, a modernized infotainment system, and expanded connectivity features. The premiere of the 2027 Silverado is scheduled for late next year, a timeline that signals a confident stride into the truck’s next phase.
