Leapmotor T03 gets a refresh to stay competitive in Europe

Leapmotor T03 update: Europe's budget EV fights back leapmotor.com

Leapmotor T03, one of Europe's most affordable electric cars, is set for an exterior, interior and software refresh to stay competitive against city EV rivals.

Leapmotor’s T03 remains one of the most affordable electric cars in Europe, but intensifying competition means the brand can’t stand still. The company has already begun work on the next generation of the model.

Why the T03 matters in Europe

This compact five-door sits in the A-segment and is tailored to city use. Priced around €17,800 before incentives, it offers a 37.3 kWh battery, up to 265 km of WLTP range, and 95 hp.

For its class, the T03 stands out not just with those numbers but also with generous standard equipment, including driver-assistance systems. That mix gives it straightforward appeal for everyday urban routines.

Pressure from new electric cars

Where the T03 once mainly faced the Dacia Spring and Fiat 500e, the picture has changed. BYD’s Dolphin Surf has entered the scene, a new Renault Twingo is on the way, and more affordable city EVs have been announced by Dacia, Nissan, and Volkswagen. In this climate, yesterday’s advantages no longer suffice, and price alone won’t carry the day.

What will change

Leapmotor International head Tianshu Xin confirmed that the company will keep the T03 in the lineup and update it. The plan is to rework the exterior, interior, and software to make the EV more modern and competitive without leaving the budget segment.

The T03 remains a key model for accelerating the mass electrification of urban transport in Europe. The update should help it hold its ground in a space where pricing still matters, yet buyers increasingly expect contemporary technology and up-to-date design even from the most accessible electric cars.
