Denza N8L plug-in hybrid SUV brings 230 km EV range and 751 hp to Europe
BYD’s Denza N8L PHEV SUV heads to Europe with 230 km EV range, 751 hp, six-seat 2+2+2 comfort and rear-wheel steering, set to challenge BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE.
Chinese brand Denza, BYD’s premium division, is preparing to bring its flagship plug-in hybrid SUV N8L to Europe, aiming to reset expectations for PHEVs. The model carries a 46.9 kWh battery that delivers up to 230 km of electric-only range — a record for its class.
Power comes from a 2.0-liter turbo engine working with three electric motors (one up front and two at the rear) for a combined 751 hp. The sprint to 100 km/h takes just 3.9 seconds, and rear-wheel steering enables a crab-walk-style maneuver, similar to the Denza Z9 GT. On paper, the figures suggest performance sharp enough to unsettle the usual premium suspects.

Inside, there are six individual seats in a 2+2+2 layout, high-end materials, and tech aimed at reducing motion sickness. Even the third row features folding seats with individual adjustments. The configuration looks thoughtfully executed, with comfort clearly prioritized throughout the cabin.
In China, prices start at 37,000 euros, and European pricing is expected to be higher. Even if it approaches 60,000 euros, the Denza N8L has the goods to challenge the BMW X5 and Mercedes GLE by offering more electric range, generous space, and serious power.
