Maextro S800, Huawei's flagship electric sedan, becomes China's best-selling luxury EV above 700,000 yuan. December sales hit 4,376; 523 hp, 702 km CLTC range.

China’s luxury-car market has a new undisputed front-runner. The Maextro S800 electric sedan, developed by Huawei together with JAC, has become the best-selling model in the segment priced above 700,000 yuan.

Sales that surprised the market

According to Haidaxing ECC, in December 2025 the Maextro S800 sold 4,376 units, up 104% from the previous month. That surge pushed the model past all key competitors, including the Porsche Panamera, BMW 7 Series, and Maybach S-Class, with their combined sales coming in below Huawei’s tally. The momentum suggests the car’s formula resonates well beyond early adopters.

The Maextro S800 went on sale in August 2025 with prices from 708,000 to 1,018,000 yuan. By footprint it is a large executive sedan, stretching 5,480 mm with a 3,370 mm wheelbase. The cabin focuses on digital comfort: a 15.6-inch central display, a 16-inch screen for the passenger, and dimming rear windows.

The electric version uses a dual-motor setup rated at 523 hp and a 95 kWh battery, delivering up to 702 km of range on the CLTC cycle. A longer-range specification is also available, including a three-motor variant with up to 852 hp.

Why Huawei managed to outpace traditional luxury

The decisive factor was Huawei’s ecosystem and the broad HIMA dealer network, which made it possible to scale sales quickly. Meanwhile, other Chinese luxury models, including the BYD Yangwang U7 and Nio ET9, lagged noticeably in volume.

The Maextro S800 has become a marker of a turning point in China’s luxury arena. Huawei has shown that the mix of technology, a strong retail footprint, and assertive positioning can squeeze even the most prestigious European badges. For buyers at this price level, that package is clearly striking the right chord.
