Luftgekühlt comes to Tokyo: air-cooled Porsches on Ginza's KK Route

Luft Tokyo: classic air-cooled Porsches take Ginza 2026 lufttokyo.com

On March 14, 2026, Luftgekühlt debuts in Japan as Luft Tokyo, transforming a closed KK Route section in Ginza into a showcase of rare air-cooled Porsche icons.

Luftgekühlt, the cult gathering for classic Porsche devotees, will stage its first-ever event in Japan. The new-format Luft Tokyo is set for March 14, 2026, right in the heart of the city—on a closed section of the KK Route expressway in Ginza.

The venue choice is no accident. With KK Route temporarily shut for reconstruction, organizers plan to turn the roadway into a showcase for hundreds of air-cooled cars. Rare and historically important Porsches are expected, including revered versions that rarely leave museum collections. The setting alone promises a distinctive atmosphere.

Japan’s car culture has long been known for its respect for engineering heritage, and Luft Tokyo looks poised to feel special. It isn’t unusual here to spot something on the level of a Porsche 962 on public roads, so the lineup could become one of the most compelling in the festival’s history—where the metal speaks for itself and the details matter.

Car registration opens on January 22, and visitor ticket sales start on February 2. Even for those who won’t make it to Tokyo, Luft Tokyo is likely to be among the most photographed automotive events of the year, carrying forward the festival’s knack for pairing iconic machinery with a strong visual punch.
