15th-generation Nissan Sylphy enters production in China ahead of Q1 2026 market launch
Dongfeng Nissan begins series production of the 15th-generation Sylphy in Guangzhou, with updated design, 1.6 HR16 engine and CVT, ahead of a Q1 2026 debut.
Dongfeng Nissan has officially moved the 15th-generation Sylphy into series production. The sedan rolled off the line at the Huadu plant in Guangzhou and is now being readied for a market debut expected in the first quarter of 2026. For Nissan, it remains a pivotal nameplate in the high-volume sedan arena, especially across Asian markets.
The new Sylphy first surfaced last fall in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology database, and from that point it was clear the car would adopt a thoroughly revised look. The sedan now follows Nissan’s current design language, echoing cues from the Teana and Qashqai, and it comes across as noticeably more dynamic and up to date than its predecessor—an evolution that feels deliberate rather than flashy.
Measured at 4,656 mm long, 1,825 mm wide, and 1,448 mm tall, with a 2,712 mm wheelbase, the Sylphy lands squarely in the comfort-oriented C‑segment. It’s aimed at everyday use and family duties, and the engineering brief sticks to tried-and-true hardware, a choice that tends to reward owners with predictability and low-stress ownership.
Under the hood, the 15th-generation Sylphy uses a 1.6‑liter naturally aspirated HR16 gasoline engine rated at 99 kW, paired with a CVT focused on smooth, efficient running. The strategy favors evolution over revolution, and that tracks with the model’s character: conservative in the best sense of the word, which is exactly how the Sylphy has held its ground as one of Nissan’s most consistently popular offerings.
