Chevrolet suspends 2026 Corvette electrochromic roof amid quality review

GM has pulled the electrochromic roof from the 2026 Chevrolet Corvette configurator amid a quality review. See affected trims and when ordering could resume.

Chevrolet has temporarily removed one of the 2026 Corvette’s most eye-catching additions—the electrochromic roof—from its configurator. The CF8 option, introduced as a premium alternative to the standard removable panel, has suddenly been pulled for all coupe versions, including the Stingray, Z06, E-Ray, and ZR1.

Sources indicate the move isn’t tied to supply issues: GM is looking into a potential quality concern and has paused sales until the review is complete. The company’s official stance aligns with this, saying the option will return later, without committing to a specific timeframe.

The electrochromic roof is a glass panel with electronically adjustable tint, allowing cabin light levels to change at the push of a button. Priced at $3,000, it appeared on order sheets for 2LT/2LZ and 3LT/3LZ trims, effectively replacing the standard CF7 roof or the carbon C2Z panel.

The feature was aimed at elevating the Corvette’s premium feel—still the brand’s icon and the only vehicle built at the Bowling Green Assembly plant since 1981. A pause like this can delay deliveries for buyers set on that configuration, a minor frustration for a model that trades heavily on its tech-forward allure.

GM says it will announce when orders reopen once the evaluation is finished.
