Chevrolet updates the 2026 Silverado 1500: WT Double Cab adds rear-seat delete for more in-cab storage, aimed at fleet buyers, with gas and diesel power.

Chevrolet has unveiled the updated 2026 Silverado 1500, the final iteration of the current generation before it moves to a new platform. Among the headline changes is a new option for the Work Truck (WT) in Double Cab form: the ability to delete the rear seats.

Marked by RPO code ATZ, the package removes the entire rear row to free up additional in-cab storage, while the seatbelts and their reminders remain. Chevrolet has not disclosed pricing yet, and since the option takes away part of the standard kit, it is expected not to affect the sticker.

The setup targets commercial users who prioritize secure interior space for tools and equipment over extra passenger capacity. In essence, it reorients the Double Cab toward cargo, a trade-off that should sit well with fleet buyers. Production of the 2026 Silverado 1500 will be based in the United States and Mexico.

The model keeps its existing engine lineup, including both gasoline and diesel options, which helps it remain among the more versatile new 2026 choices for business and job-site needs. Sticking with proven powertrains is likely to appeal to those who value familiarity and flexibility.
