Afeela 1 to offer PlayStation-inspired UI themes in production
At CES 2026, Sony Honda Mobility showed Afeela 1 with PlayStation-inspired UI themes, previewing a premium EV experience ahead of late-2026 U.S. sales.
At CES 2026, Sony Honda Mobility once again brought Afeela to the stage, rolling out several pre-production Afeela 1 cars. Beyond the usual talk of software, autonomy, and ecosystems, the company leaned into something meant to strike a chord: production models will offer user interface themes inspired by Sony PlayStation franchises. We're talking about visual wallpapers and sound profiles that can be enabled in the infotainment system, with recognizable motifs, including Astro Bot and God of War Ragnarok.

For Afeela, the move makes sense. The brand is still in a long takeoff: the project began as Vision-S, evolved into a Sony and Honda joint venture, and U.S. sales are planned for late 2026. From the outset, the positioning is premium—an entry point of about $89,000 was mentioned earlier—and the pricier versions are slated to arrive first. In this context, features shouldn’t just decorate the car; they need to show why this isn’t yet another electric sedan but a Sony product through and through. Leaning on that PlayStation DNA feels like the right card to play at launch.
