At Japan Mobility Show 2025, Yamaha will debut the TRICERA proto EV—a three-wheeler with three-axis steering and αlive AD audio that turns sound into control.
Yamaha Motor will unveil the TRICERA proto concept EV at the Japan Mobility Show 2025—an open three-wheeler with an innovative three-axis steering system and a distinctive sound architecture. The team positions it as a new level of human–machine unity, where sound becomes an integral part of control rather than a background effect.
TRICERA features Yamaha’s patented αlive AD system, which generates adaptive audio feedback to heighten the sense of speed and maneuvering. Company sound designers Sumito Tanaka and Hikaru Hashimoto developed not just effects but a complete sonic ecosystem—from the startup cue to the tonalities that accompany acceleration, braking, and turning. The idea comes across as sound used like a control surface, not mere ornament.

Yamaha says TRICERA is designed not only to convey driving dynamics through the controls but also to trigger an emotional response through sound. Each audio cue is calibrated around human perception—from smooth frequencies during steady travel to resonant vibrations under hard acceleration. If executed well, this approach could give electric motion a more tactile character.
The TRICERA proto will be the centerpiece of Yamaha’s booth at the show. The company plans not just to display the vehicle but to let visitors experience its acoustic breathing inside a purpose-built 3D sound space—an apt stage for a concept defined by its soundscape.
