Toyota temporarily shifts Venezuela employees to remote work amid security risks. Operations and production continue, showing resilience in a tough market.

Toyota has temporarily asked employees in Venezuela to work from home as political and security risks intensify. The carmaker presented the move as a preventive safety step and said all workers and their families remain safe. It did not disclose how many people are affected or how long the remote setup will last, a prevention-first stance that signals measured caution in an unpredictable climate.

According to the company, production and commercial operations are continuing without noticeable disruption. Even so, Venezuela has long been a difficult market for Toyota: sanctions, parts shortages, and eroding purchasing power have constrained local business for years. Keeping the lights on under such pressures reads less like routine and more like resilience.

Earlier reports said the plant in Cumaná went through multiple shutdowns, with output reduced to symbolic levels, after which the facility shifted to more flexible assembly schemes and sought to earn foreign currency through component-related operations.
