Hyundai Elexio electric SUV lands in Australia: pricing and key specs
Discover the Hyundai Elexio electric SUV for Australia: $59,990 price, 546 km WLTP range, 88.1 kWh LFP, 10–80% in 38 min, plus tech and rivals EV5 and Model Y.
Hyundai has detailed pricing and specification for its first China-built model for Australia, the Elexio electric family SUV. The opening ask is $59,990, a deliberate move that undercuts the related Kia EV5 Air Long Range at $63,990 and goes after the Tesla Model Y, which in practice often climbs past $60,000 once on-road costs and delivery are factored in.
On paper, Elexio mirrors the EV5: front-wheel drive, a 160 kW/310 Nm electric motor, and an 88.1 kWh LFP battery. The WLTP range is 546 km—slightly down on the EV5 but notably ahead of the Model Y RWD. Hyundai also quotes a 10–80% charge in 38 minutes, without disclosing peak power. Production takes place in China at the Beijing Hyundai joint venture.

Hyundai leans into tech without chasing a premium vibe: a 27-inch display with a dedicated passenger zone, the new Connect-C infotainment based on Android Automotive, two wireless charging pads, heated and ventilated front seats, a comprehensive driver-assistance suite, and Digital Key 2 Touch. A crucial footnote: the key relies on NFC tap-to-unlock rather than ultra-wideband, so true hands-free, keep-it-in-your-pocket access is off the table. For Australia, the suspension and steering are tuned locally to suit the roads—a sensible focus for family duty.
In size, Elexio sits close to Tucson: 4,615 mm long with a 2,750 mm wheelbase, plus a 506-litre boot that expands to 1,540 litres with the second row folded. The warranty covers seven years with unlimited kilometres when serviced at a dealer, and eight years/160,000 km for the high-voltage battery. The model is due to go on sale by late March.
