At the Japan Mobility Show 2025, Daihatsu unveiled a suite of experimental models united by the DAIHATSUMEI — small yet mighty philosophy. Since 1907 the brand has been crafting compact cars that feel close to people, and its stand showed how that idea is set to evolve.

The spotlight fell on six concepts. Midget X carries forward the spirit of the first Daihatsu mini truck, proposing an electric urban capsule with three seats. K-OPEN and its Running Prototype channel the joy of open-top driving and rear-wheel traction. K-VISION showcases a new e-SMART hybrid system with driving range that doesn’t require plug-in charging and the ability to supply external power.

The commercial KAYOIBAKO-K rethinks the “last mile”: an electric microvan capable of autonomous operation and designed to support local communities. Completing the lineup, e-ATRAI STICKER FACTORY is a mobile sticker factory that stands for work that’s both fun and useful. Together, these ideas sketch a small-scale future that’s practical, characterful, and more community-minded than most mainstream concepts.

Daihatsu also presented the personal electric vehicle e-SNEAKER, a glimpse of how urban mobility could look by 2035 — compact in footprint, big on intent.
