BMW sweeps the E-Mobility Production Awards 2025 for electric motor and battery production

BMW clinches Electric Motor Production and Battery Production of the Year at the E-Mobility Production Awards 2025, showcasing Dingolfing and Regensburg plants.

BMW emerged as the standout winner at the E-Mobility Production Awards 2025, taking two headline categories: Electric Motor Production of the Year and Battery Production of the Year. The evaluation was conducted by the PEM Institute at the University of Aachen together with Berylls by AlixPartners during the Battery Production Days in Münster.

BMW’s Dingolfing plant was recognized as the top site for electric motor production in the DACH region, praised for high throughput, a strong level of automation, and consistent product quality. The facility has built more than 1.5 million electric motors and millions of battery modules since launch. The verdict feels logical: in this segment, volume capability, automation depth, and repeatable results usually make the difference between a showpiece and a true production system.

The award for battery manufacturing went to BMW’s Regensburg plant, which posted record growth in volumes and rolled out proprietary technologies. Experts singled out the company’s innovations in thermal optimization and manufacturing flexibility. Those are the levers that typically ease scaling pains—and they often separate incremental progress from a step change on the factory floor.
