Mercedes-AMG launches CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Final Edition in Japan: 421 hp M139, black-and-yellow spec, Shooting Brake, just 130 cars incl. online-only Night Black.
Mercedes-AMG has written the closing chapter for its fiercest compact CLA: Japan gets the CLA 45 S 4MATIC+ Final Edition and a final Shooting Brake. On social media, enthusiasts were already saying it felt like the end of an era and lamenting that the 2.0-liter, 421-hp engine is gradually being phased out of the lineup.
The headline act remains the M139 engine: a turbocharged inline-four rated at 421 hp and 500 Nm, still among the most powerful series-production two-liter units. Yet Final Edition is as much about scarcity as speed. Japan’s allocation is capped at 130 cars, and a slice of that run is an online exclusive: 13 Night Black examples available only through the brand’s online showroom with prior reservation. That mini-batch breaks down into 10 sedans and 3 wagons.

Visually, the car leans into a black-and-yellow theme. The palette offers two finishes—Night Black (solid) and matte MANUFAKTUR Mountain Grey Magno. Final Edition decals with a prominent 45 S motif sit on the front doors, while AMG Night Packages and black brake calipers turn up the dark detailing.
Further flourishes include 19-inch forged wheels, mirrors and other elements picked out with yellow accents. The spec sheet lists aerodynamic packages, a panoramic roof as standard, AMG sport seats, ARTICO/MICROCUT upholstery with yellow stitching, and a set of series-specific touches such as badges, trim pieces and illuminated door sills. The send-off leans into scarcity and theater, a choice that fits a car whose character has always skewed more firecracker than family runabout.
In Japan, pricing is set at 11.77 million yen for the CLA 45 S Final Edition and 11.74 million yen for the Shooting Brake, with deliveries slated to begin in late December 2025. Given the numbers and the spec, it is hard to imagine the 130-car run lingering for long.
