AION confirms 2026 UK launch, starting with the AION V
New brand AION will launch in the UK in Q2 2026, debuting the AION V crossover and a franchised dealer network, plus up to eight models and strong aftersales.
New automotive brand AION plans to enter the UK market in the second quarter of 2026, as stated by AION Auto UK managing director John Wakefield. The company is already in talks with potential retail partners and is shaping a launch marketing strategy, setting the stage for a coordinated rollout.
AION is a joint venture between Chinese manufacturer GAC and international distributor Jameel Motors. Sales will be built through a franchised network with an emphasis on long-term dealer sustainability. Partners are promised medium- and long-term development roadmaps and the option to expand their territories as the model range and volumes grow—a stance that should help retailers commit for the long haul in a crowded market.
The first UK model will be the AION V, a C-segment crossover noted for its generous cabin, with sales slated to begin in Q2 2026. It will be followed by the compact AION UT hatchback. Looking further ahead, the brand is considering up to eight models by the end of the decade, including a large plug-in hybrid SUV and a compact crossover. Starting with a roomy C-segment crossover feels like a pragmatic move for family buyers, while a diversified pipeline signals an intent to cover the core segments.
The company is also preparing its aftersales backbone, from accident repairs to rapid parts supply. Early confidence often hinges on service and support, so this groundwork could prove as important as the showroom debut. AION’s arrival is set to join a broader wave of new cars expected in Europe in 2026.
