Two camouflaged XPeng G6 prototypes spotted in Sydney reveal a refreshed design, 15.6-inch screen and powertrain tweaks ahead of an Australia launch in 2025.

Two camouflaged prototypes of the updated XPeng G6 were recently spotted on the streets of Sydney, a clear sign that the brand is gearing up for an Australian launch.

The refreshed G6 looks notably different from earlier versions. The headlights and taillights have been completely redesigned, the front bumper has been reworked, and the car rides on distinctive, unusually shaped wheels. The changes give the crossover a cleaner face and a more confident stance.

The cabin has moved up a notch as well. The central touchscreen now measures 15.6 inches (previously 14.9), materials feel more upmarket, and the seats have been made more comfortable, lifting the overall impression of quality. It’s the kind of update that makes daily use more pleasant without overcomplicating the interface.

In the standard version, battery capacity rises to 68.5 kWh (from 66 kWh), adding roughly 35 km of driving range. Motor output dips slightly from 190 kW to 185 kW, a modest change that most drivers are unlikely to notice in everyday traffic.

The Long Range variant takes a different path: capacity drops from 87.5 kWh to 80.8 kWh, trimming about 45 km of range, while power increases from 210 kW to 218 kW. The setup hints at a shift toward a livelier feel rather than chasing absolute maximum distance on a charge.

At the top of the lineup, the Performance Edition uses two motors with a combined 358 kW. It sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in under 4.1 seconds and offers around 510 km of range, positioning it as the quick but still road-trip-capable choice.

XPeng plans to bring the updated G6 to Australia in the fall of 2025, alongside the new G9 and X9 models—an assertive push that should give the brand a meaningful foothold locally.
