McMurtry Speirling PURE: US Debut Shows the Production Car, Not Its Full Powers

The 1,000-hp electric fan car makes its static US debut on August 14 at The Quail, ahead of a dealer and track tour across America.
The American debut of the McMurtry Speirling PURE will show the production car, but not yet what it can do. The electric fan car will be unveiled on August 14 at The Quail in California, then moved the next day to Laguna Seca. Both events will feature a static display only.
That is a real limitation: about 95% of the production Speirling PURE’s components differ from the record-setting prototypes. The car gets a 100 kWh battery, new Helix rear electric motors, a reworked transmission, and redesigned cooling. Output reaches 1,000 hp, 0–60 mph takes 1.55 seconds, and top speed is 190 mph.
The headline technology is a pair of fans that generate up to 2,000 kg of downforce even with the car standing still. McMurtry claims cornering and braking forces of up to 3g. But the Speirling PURE remains a single-seat track car: it is not approved for public roads. Pricing starts at £995,000 — roughly $1.3 million or €1.15 million before taxes, delivery, and options.
After Monterey Car Week, the company will take the Speirling PURE to American dealerships and race tracks. Exact cities and dates will be announced later. 32CARS.RU previously reported on the unusual fan car’s move from prototype to production version.
First customer cars are due to be delivered by the end of 2026. For a prospective buyer, the California showing is a chance to study the car’s construction, but a full verdict on the production version will only come after dynamic demonstrations later in the tour.
