Lucid Gravity's first recall targets mislabeled side airbag covers

Lucid Gravity’s first recall: 66 MY2026 SUVs may have mislabeled seatback covers affecting side airbag deployment. Free inspections and repairs begin Feb 2026.

Lucid Gravity, the brand’s new electric SUV, has logged its first recall just a few months after deliveries began. The issue isn’t tied to high-voltage hardware or software; it traces back to the supply chain. A labeling error on the front seatback covers could lead the side airbag to deploy differently than intended.

The recall involves 66 Gravity vehicles from the 2026 model year built between September 8 and 22, 2025. The company estimates the defect may be present in about 40% of those cars, so every vehicle on the list will be checked. The mechanics are straightforward: the airbag sits inside the seat, and if a trim piece ends up on the wrong side, it could theoretically impede proper deployment in a crash. It reads as a process slip rather than a reflection of the core engineering.

The remedy is simple. Service centers will inspect the front seats and replace any mislabelled covers or trim they find. The repair will be free for owners, with notifications planned for early February 2026 and work carried out in stages. Production has already been adjusted, and suppliers are under tighter oversight with additional checks — a pragmatic response that should close the loop efficiently.
