Porsche relaxes parking guidance for 911 T-Hybrid models GTS and Turbo S. The updated manual drops temperature limits and clarifies battery care for storage.
Porsche has updated its guidance on extended parking for 911 models with the T-Hybrid system. The revisions apply to the 911 GTS and 911 Turbo S, which previously came with strict storage rules laid out in the owner’s manual.
Originally, Porsche advised keeping these cars only in covered spaces, avoiding direct sunlight and temperatures below -20 and above +30 degrees Celsius. It was also specified that the high-voltage battery should not fall below a 30% state of charge, even though the system cannot be plugged in for charging. For idle periods beyond two weeks, the manual pointed to even tighter limits, including a narrow temperature band.
In the updated manual, the requirements are more forgiving. Additional restrictions now apply only when the car is parked for longer than one month. The previously mandated 0 to 20-degree temperature range and the prohibition on parking in the sun have been removed. Porsche still recommends, where possible, leaving the car under cover and keeping the battery above 30%. If the car is left stationary for more than two months, it is advised to raise the charge to 80% using Sport Plus before parking.
The company noted that there have been no technical changes to the cars. According to Porsche, the earlier limitations were largely precautionary from a legal standpoint, and real-world use has shown that the hybrid 911s cope with downtime better than anticipated. The shift reads like a pragmatic adjustment that makes day-to-day ownership a bit less fussy, without changing the hardware or the core concept.
