Hyundai refreshes the 2026 Ioniq 5 with Centriq trim and smarter battery management

Hyundai has unveiled the refreshed 2026 Ioniq 5, strengthening one of the standout models in its electric lineup. Following the 2025 update, the brand has once again refined comfort, day-to-day functionality and the charging setup to stay sharp in a fast-moving market.

The headline is a new Centriq trim that slots between the base and the range-topper. For €49,900, buyers get power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support, adaptive cruise control, braking assist and lane-keeping assistance, heating and wireless phone charging, plus a power-operated tailgate and tinted glass. The Centriq neatly bridges the gap between basic and fully loaded, and the spec mix feels well judged for daily use.

For N Line versions, Hyundai adds new leather-and-Alcantara seats, heated rear seats and a Safe Exit function. There is also an automated parking package, while the badges switch to black in the spirit of the Ioniq 5 N. The blacked-out emblems are a small touch, but they make the car read sportier at a glance. In addition, Digital Key 2.0 with UWB arrives, allowing touch-free unlocking and start via a smartphone.

Engineers have also reworked the battery management system: drivers can now set not just a maximum but also a minimum state of charge, anywhere from 10% to 100%. That helps plan routes and reduce battery wear. The ability to lock in a minimum charge is a smart, real-world upgrade that owners will actually use, and it will reach earlier Ioniq 5s via an over-the-air update.

Hyundai adds a new Celadon Grey finish and includes a standard seven-meter charging cable for easier plug-in routines. A longer cable is the kind of detail that cuts everyday friction. Taken together, the Ioniq 5 remains one of the most tech-forward EVs on sale, blending comfort, efficiency and a hint of sporty character in a single package.
