Tein launches high-performance Nissan Patrol dampers tuned for Middle Eastern deserts
Tein debuts monotube, two-way adjustable dampers for the Nissan Patrol, engineered for desert heat and heavy loads, Middle East sales in 2026, global rollout.
Japan’s Tein, known for suspension systems for road and performance cars, is now betting on heavy-duty off-road use. The company says its new high-performance dampers for the Nissan Patrol will be used in the Middle Eastern Project Safari, with regional sales starting in 2026. The first year calls for 1,000 kits, followed by a global rollout — a clear signal to a market where desert endurance often matters more than plush ride quality.
The debut took place in Abu Dhabi at the Liwa Festival, a major desert off-road gathering where hardware faces soft sand, heat and punishing loads. The setup is based on the Tein 4x4 Damper Gravel 2, trialed for several years in extreme cold in Mongolia and Inner Mongolia, then reworked for hot climates. Development and Middle Eastern calibration were compressed into a tight schedule with several rounds of tuning, which hints at a focused push to meet local conditions.

Technically, it’s a monotube design with upsized components (64 mm cylinder, 56 mm piston, 22 mm shaft), two-way damping adjustment, and an extended operating range from -30 to +180 degrees Celsius. The target is a steadier, more controlled heavy SUV off-road without giving up ride compliance. Tein also notes interest in such Patrols from border services in desert regions. Judging by the chosen specs and the staged rollout, the focus is squarely on consistency and heat resistance — exactly what sand-going Patrol owners tend to value.
