Order books open in the UK for Volkswagen Touareg Final Edition

Volkswagen has opened UK order books for the Touareg Final Edition — a special version that neatly draws a line under the model’s story in this market. Sales begin on 11 December, and, in a move rarely seen with farewell runs, the newcomer undercuts its predecessor instead of inflating the price. The Touareg Final Edition is priced at £72,535 — £1,990 less than the outgoing Black Edition — while gaining roughly £2,500 worth of additional equipment.

Outside, the Touareg Final Edition is identified by laser-etched FINAL EDITION scripts on the rear door window surrounds; inside, the theme continues on the backlit dashboard trim, the door-sill plates and even the leather gear selector. The farewell bundle brings metallic paint and Varenna leather upholstery, extended ambient lighting with 30 colours, soft-closing doors, a power-deployable towbar with Trailer Assist, and a larger 90-litre fuel tank — a thoughtful touch for those who use the Touareg as a tow vehicle or a long-distance family SUV.

Technically, the Final Edition sticks to proven hardware: a 3.0-litre 286 hp TDI, 4MOTION all-wheel drive and an eight-speed Tiptronic. For buyers after maximum shove and pace, there is the Touareg R Final Edition — the eHybrid based on the 3.0 TSI with a 462 hp system output, again with 4MOTION and the same automatic. The R Final Edition costs £81,445, and it too comes in lower than the previous Touareg R.
