Nio Firefly EV nears Australian launch: price, range, rollout
Chinese brand Nio readies Firefly EV for Australia: $35,000 price, 330 km range, 105 kW motor. RHD production underway, rollout starts 2026 via Singapore and UK
Chinese automaker Nio is preparing to bring a new electric model, the Firefly, to the Australian market. A few steps remain before sales begin, including selecting a local distribution partner. While the on-sale date has yet to be confirmed, the car has already completed road testing and obtained the necessary certification, which moves it close to showrooms.
Early estimates suggest a price of about $35,000. The EV is fitted with a 41.2-kWh battery that delivers up to 330 kilometers on a single charge. With a 105-kW motor, the Firefly should provide confident everyday performance—numbers that position it as a pragmatic choice for city driving and the daily grind.
Production of right-hand-drive versions is already underway. The first batch is scheduled for Singapore in January 2026, after which the brand plans to expand its presence to the UK and, ultimately, Australia. The phased rollout points to a measured strategy aimed at building momentum market by market.
