Jaguar Type 00 electric GT: specs, pricing and launch timeline

A. Krivonosov

Jaguar’s Type 00 electric GT on JEA 800-volt tech: 100-150 kWh, up to 800 km and ~1,000 hp. From £100k, debut in 2026 with production to follow in 2027.

Jaguar is entering the final stretch with its new electric GT sedan: the latest VB-coded prototypes are verification cars built from near-production parts. They’re being spotted ever more often in Warwickshire, and the camouflage has been trimmed to a minimum. You can now clearly see the elongated silhouette—more than five meters long—tidy arches and clean surfacing, noticeably more elegant than the earlier decoy panels. At the rear, a full hatchback-style tailgate is visible for the first time, although an active spoiler still conceals some elements.

Known internally as Type 00, the model will anchor Jaguar’s new EV range. It uses the JEA platform with an 800-volt architecture, large battery packs (100–150 kWh) and a range of up to 800 km. Output stands at around 1,000 hp, with weight exceeding 2.5 tonnes. The brand also promises virtual gear shifts and its most advanced control modes yet. On paper the figures are striking; the mass will put the chassis set-up under scrutiny, while those virtual shifts could bring welcome character to an otherwise hushed drivetrain.

Jaguar positions the GT as an alternative to Bentley and Rolls-Royce, yet with a starting price of up to £100,000 it should be markedly more attainable. The series debut is scheduled for 2026, with production to start in 2027—marking the first new Jaguar since the closure of Castle Bromwich in 2024.
