General Motors will start SKD assembly of the Chevrolet Spark EUV in Ceará December, scaling to full production by 2026, Captiva EV to join the Brazil lineup.

General Motors has confirmed the start of local assembly of the Chevrolet Spark EUV in Brazil. Production will begin in December at the Comexport facility in the state of Ceará, the first site selected to build the electric crossover. The decision was announced at the São Paulo International Motor Show.

The operation is located on the grounds of the former Troller factory and is run by Comexport together with the state agency Adece. At the outset, the model will be produced using an SKD process from partially assembled kits. The plan then moves to a full manufacturing cycle with component localization. That step-by-step path looks like a pragmatic way to establish EV production locally.

GM forecasts output of 8,800 Spark EUVs in 2026 and intends to broaden the lineup assembled at the site. Alongside the Spark EUV, the Chevrolet Captiva EV is slated to join the line next year. Local assembly will complement imports from China and gradually turn the Brazilian facility into the main supply hub for the Spark EUV in the domestic market.
