Bugatti Teases Third Programme Solitaire Car: The W16 Isn’t Done Yet

Bugatti has teased a new Programme Solitaire hypercar built around its W16 engine, even as the Tourbillon leads the brand into a hybrid future.
Production of the W16 Mistral roadster has wrapped up, but the 8.0-liter quad-turbo engine isn’t heading to a museum just yet. Bugatti has released a teaser for its next Programme Solitaire project, showing a plaque marked W16. It will be the third one-off in the program, following Brouillard and F.K.P. Hommage.
This isn’t about reviving Chiron production or launching a new series. Programme Solitaire builds no more than two cars a year, using existing Bugatti chassis and powertrains while designing a unique body and interior for each client. The approach extends the life of a proven platform without returning to full-scale production of past models. Brouillard and F.K.P. Hommage both received the most powerful version of the W16, rated at 1,600 hp.
The third car will likely get the same output, though the teaser itself doesn’t confirm that. Bugatti hasn’t revealed the name, specs, or looks of the car yet. According to The Supercar Blog, the public debut will take place at The Quail during Monterey Car Week, and the design may blend elements of the Tourbillon with the track-only Bolide. There’s no official confirmation yet of the reveal venue or body details — these points come from the outlet’s sources.
The W16’s comeback doesn’t undo Bugatti’s shift to new technology. The Tourbillon pairs a naturally aspirated V16 with three electric motors for a combined 1,800 hp; deliveries of 250 cars priced from €3.8 million before tax are planned for 2026. The new Solitaire is shaping up as a collectible coda to the Volkswagen era rather than a rival to the future hybrid flagship.
