Chevrolet S10 Trail Boss: 250 mm of clearance, Ironman springs and the warranty intact

The S10 Trail Boss slots between the LTZ and the High Country: Ironman front suspension, 250 mm of ground clearance, all-terrain Pirellis and recalibrated electronics — all of it signed off by the factory and covered by the warranty.
Chevrolet has started selling the S10 Trail Boss, a 2027 model year version of the pickup that leaves the factory ready for the dirt. It costs 341,290 reais, around 58,700 euros, and slots between the LTZ at 333,690 reais and the range-topping High Country at 348,790. That is 7600 reais over the LTZ, roughly 1300 euros, with another 7500 reais separating it from the most expensive trim. So the choice is not about saving money but about priorities: factory hardware for the trail, or a plusher badge.
The Trail Boss gets Ironman springs and dampers up front, lifting the nose by 30 mm. Ground clearance grows from 225 to 250 mm and the approach angle from 29.5 to 32.5 degrees. The rear axle keeps its standard setup: the engineers were levelling the body rather than jacking up the whole truck, so behaviour with a loaded bed stays predictable.
Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus tyres in 265/60 R18 are standard. The size is the same as on the High Country, but the tread is far more aggressive, with deeper grooves and reinforced shoulder blocks aimed at dirt, gravel, sand and mud.
The main advantage over a do-it-yourself lift is that the factory warranty stays intact. Chevrolet retuned the stability, traction and braking electronics for the altered suspension geometry: a different ride height shifts the centre of gravity and the field of view of the cameras the driver aids rely on.
Mechanically nothing has changed. The 2.8-litre turbodiesel delivers 207 hp and 510 Nm, working with an eight-speed automatic and four-wheel drive with a low range. The cabin carries an 8-inch digital instrument cluster and the MyLink infotainment system with an 11-inch screen.
32CARS.RU has already covered another Chevrolet in Trail Boss guise, where the off-road version shares the range with a High Country in much the same way.
The S10 Trail Boss makes sense not as a cheaper High Country but as a ready-made alternative to rebuilding the suspension yourself. Anyone after the rugged look alone still has the Z71 at 325,290 reais. Here the buyer pays close to top money for clearance, tyres and calibration approved by the manufacturer.
