Chevrolet at City Centre Mirdif: GM’s first showroom that isn’t a showroom
Chevrolet and Al Ghandi Auto will open a new customer experience space at City Centre Mirdif in Dubai — the first market worldwide for the concept. No opening date, cars or services have been confirmed yet.
General Motors has chosen Dubai for the world’s first launch of a new Chevrolet retail format, but so far it has shown an idea rather than a finished product. The space will open inside the City Centre Mirdif mall, yet the opening date, the line-up of cars on display and the technologies waiting for visitors have not been revealed.
Chevrolet is developing the project together with Al Ghandi Auto, its exclusive dealer partner in Dubai. GM describes the venue not as a traditional showroom but as an interactive space where people can get to know the brand, explore a specific model or simply spend time. Chevrolet’s Middle East team, GM’s global design teams and specialist partners handling interior design, lighting and immersive technology are all involved.
The company explains its choice of market by pointing to local shopping habits. According to the Global Digital Shopping Index for 2025, 67% of consumers in the UAE used a smartphone during their most recent retail purchase, while 53% said they want to move freely between digital and physical channels — the second-highest figure in the world.
There is a significant caveat, though: the company has not said whether visitors will be able to order a car, arrange financing, take a test drive or get servicing. On the project’s official page, Chevrolet currently offers nothing more than early-access registration. That makes it far too early to treat the venue as a full replacement for a dealership.
Customers in the UAE can already configure a Chevrolet online and complete the purchase through their preferred dealer. The new venue is meant to connect that digital search with meeting the car in person, although its practical value will only become clear once the list of services is confirmed.
The shift towards blended channels is visible in other markets too, where online platforms keep taking over work that used to belong to dealerships alone.
For now Chevrolet has not named an opening date and promises to reveal the details soon. Until that happens, the project remains a demonstration of a retail strategy rather than a working way to buy a car without the usual dealership visit.
