New Mercedes-Benz GLA: World Premiere Set for July 29, EQA’s Future in Question

Mercedes-Benz will unveil the third-generation GLA on July 29, 2026, merging combustion and electric versions and possibly replacing the EQA.
Mercedes-Benz has officially set the world premiere of the new GLA for July 29, 2026. The livestream starts at 7:30 pm Central European Summer Time. That’s where the confirmed information ends for now — engines, range, pricing and the sales start date haven’t been disclosed yet.
According to Motor1, the third-generation crossover will merge two lineups that used to be kept apart. Expect a combustion-engined version alongside a fully electric variant that could replace the current EQA. Shoppers will have an easier time telling the models apart by name, but the electric version will lose its distinct design and standalone identity.
Prototypes point to a larger body, flush door handles and light graphics built around three-pointed stars. Inside, expect a 10.3-inch instrument display paired with two 14-inch screens. The petrol version may get a 1.5-liter turbo engine with a mild-hybrid system, though Mercedes hasn’t confirmed these specs yet.
The GLA will stay a road-focused compact crossover, while Mercedes is simultaneously testing an electric Little G with a more pronounced off-road character.
With five days to go before the premiere, it’s reasonable to put off any choice between the GLA and the EQA until the technical data comes out. Range, charging speed and the price gap will show whether merging the two models actually benefits customers, not just Mercedes’s catalog.
