Li L6 Ultra: bigger battery brings 300 km of electric range, same price

Li Auto began handing over the redesigned L6 to customers just four days after its unveiling. The crossover is now sold in a single Ultra trim priced at 249,800 yuan (about $34,800).

The headline change is a 51 kWh traction battery, up from the previous 36.8 kWh. Electric range on the CLTC cycle climbed from 212 km to 300 km, while combined range with a full battery and a full tank reaches 1,250 km. Charging from 20% to 80% now takes 12 minutes — eight minutes quicker than before.

All-wheel drive is now standard. Two electric motors produce a combined 300 kW, or roughly 408 hp, taking the L6 from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.4 seconds. The 1.5-liter turbocharged engine acts purely as a generator and never drives the wheels directly. Dimensions are largely unchanged: the car is 4,935 mm long with a 2,920 mm wheelbase.

The standard compute platform gets Li Auto’s in-house Mach M100 chip, rated at 1,280 TOPS. For 20,000 yuan extra, buyers can add a package with two of these chips and four lidar units. Having the hardware doesn’t guarantee every assisted-driving feature will work outside China — buyers should check software updates, app support and server-side functionality before importing one.

The quoted 300 km figure is based on China’s CLTC cycle. Highway driving, cold weather and constant heater use will bring the real-world electric range down. Buyers outside China should also confirm dealer warranty terms, charging-port compatibility and whether the new battery can be diagnosed locally.

The refresh follows a steep drop in deliveries of the outgoing L6, which fell to just 915 units in June — down 94.44% year-on-year. Some buyers had reportedly been holding off in anticipation of the new version. The car’s first full months on sale will show whether the bigger battery is enough to revive demand.
