Lancia Delta Vanishes From Stellantis’ Plans: Only the Gamma Survives Through 2030

Stellantis Drops Lancia Delta Comeback, Only Gamma Remains in Plan media.stellantis.com

Stellantis’ roadmap through 2030 no longer lists the Lancia Delta, leaving the Gamma crossover as the brand’s only confirmed new model.

The comeback of the Lancia Delta no longer looks like a done deal. Stellantis’ new presentation of European launches through 2030 lists only the Gamma under the Lancia badge, even though the electric compact had previously been slated for 2028. It’s worth separating a model’s absence from a roadmap and an official cancellation — the group hasn’t announced the program is closed.

The plans were more concrete not long ago. Former Lancia CEO Luca Napolitano described the future Delta as fully electric, and the earlier strategy called for a three-model lineup of Ypsilon, Gamma and Delta. For the Delta, a length of around 4.4 meters and a sporty HF Integrale version were discussed, though the platform and specs of a production car were never officially revealed.

The Delta’s disappearance coincides with a reshuffling of resources inside Stellantis. Under the FaSTLAne 2030 strategy, Lancia has been moved into the specialty-brand category under FIAT management, while 70% of product investment goes to four global brands plus the Pro One division. That doesn’t prove the Delta is cancelled, but it explains why an expensive niche project could lose priority.

There’s also a more speculative theory: the compact project could have been redirected to Alfa Romeo, which has been promised a new C-segment hatchback — a successor to the 147 and Giulietta. The source offers no confirmation of a direct handover, so for now this remains editorial speculation based on overlapping segments and timing.

For Lancia, the bet now effectively shifts to the Gamma. If the Delta really has been shelved, the test of the brand’s viability won’t be a nostalgic hatchback but a larger, potentially more profitable crossover.
