BMW Z4 G29 Final Edition with M40i manual in Frozen Matte Black
BMW bids farewell to the G29 Z4 with a Final Edition: Frozen Matte Black, M40i with auto or 6-speed manual, $77,500 in US, production ends March 2026.
BMW is preparing to draw a line under the G29-generation Z4 with a special Final Edition. The roadster wears an exclusive Frozen Matte Black finish, pairs it with signature red M Sport brake calipers and Shadowline high-gloss black accents. Inside, a dark theme with red highlights sets the tone: a mix of Alcantara and Vernasca leather, M sport seats, an M steering wheel and unique door-sill inserts. The package also includes a head-up display and a Harman Kardon premium audio system. The matte paint flatters the Z4’s proportions, and the red details keep the look from turning austere.

In the United States, the Final Edition is based on the flagship M40i with the 3.0-liter B58 engine rated at 382 hp. Buyers can choose either an automatic or a six-speed manual—a rarity among today’s sports cars—for the same price of $77,500. Production will wrap up in March 2026 at Magna Steyr in Austria. Europe gets sDrive30i and sDrive20i variants, while local emissions rules trim the top version’s output to 335 hp due to OPF particulate filters. The availability of a manual shows BMW understands exactly what this car’s audience values.
Despite its kinship with the Toyota GR Supra, the roadster never received a full-on BMW M version. The Supra is also nearing the end of its run and will get its own Final Edition with a titanium exhaust and carbon elements—a tidy bit of symmetry for platform mates.
Set against the latest wave of sports cars, these limited farewell runs are a reminder of how quickly the market is shifting—and which 2025–2026 models may stand among the last of the classic driver’s machines.
