XPeng Mona L03: Google Maps Arrives Before VLA 2.0's Global Debut

XPeng Mona L03 to Get Google Maps Ahead of Global VLA 2.0 Rollout xpeng.com

XPeng will build its own navigation interface on Google Maps Auto SDK for the Mona L03, feeding data to NGP and paving the way for VLA 2.0's international launch in 2027.

Built-in Google Maps solves one of the biggest problems facing Chinese cars outside their home market — native navigation systems that don’t mesh with local roads and services. Still, owners of the XPeng Mona L03 shouldn’t confuse the new maps with a green light for driverless operation: NGP and VLA 2.0 remain driver-assistance systems, and which features are available will depend on the specific country.

XPeng is building its own navigation interface on top of the Google Maps Auto SDK. Drivers won’t need to install a separate app or mirror their phone screen — address search, traffic data, route planning and energy consumption estimates will all run through the car’s built-in display. The menu design and controls, however, stay XPeng’s own. The L03 becomes the brand’s first model with the new system and the company’s first production car from the Asia-Pacific region to carry this SDK integration.

The mapping data won’t just serve the navigation system. It will also feed Xpilot Assist and the more advanced NGP, letting the system account for turns, exits and overall route structure. That lays the technical groundwork for VLA 2.0’s international rollout, which XPeng plans to begin globally in 2027. Having the maps on board doesn’t change a driver’s responsibility to keep watching the road.

XPeng plans to sell the Mona L03 in 64 countries and regions. In China, pre-sale pricing runs from 143,800 to 165,800 yuan. Top-spec versions come with computing power of up to 1,500 TOPS, though that figure alone says nothing about the safety or quality of the driving-assistance system.

Before buying an imported L03, it’s worth checking the account region, whether the built-in SIM card works, update availability, subscription terms, and whether navigation keeps working across borders. Not every launch market has been confirmed publicly, so buyers outside XPeng’s announced regions shouldn’t assume Google Maps and VLA 2.0 will work as expected on a privately imported car.
