Alpine A110 Future: camouflaged electric prototype takes to the Goodwood hill

Alpine A110 Future: electric prototype debuts at Goodwood media.alpinecars.com

Alpine has run its A110 Future development mule at Goodwood Festival of Speed, previewing the electric successor to the A110 with an 800V platform and 40:60 weight balance.

Alpine has shown its future electric A110 in motion for the first time. The test car, named A110 Future, took to the hill at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, running July 9–12, but the brand still isn’t revealing the production design: the body is covered in camouflage and the mule exists mainly to prove out the hardware.

The new A110 will replace today’s petrol coupé, whose production run is coming to an end. Alpine confirms the future sports car will be fully electric, but it will keep the rear-wheel-drive character the nameplate is known for. Two electric motors will sit on the rear axle, each able to control its own wheel for torque vectoring.

Another key detail is the 800-volt architecture. It’s meant to speed up charging and cut the weight of part of the power electronics. The weight distribution is targeted at 40:60 toward the rear axle, close to the classic sports-car character Alpine is known for.

The future range won’t stop at the coupé. Alpine has already confirmed Coupé, Spider and 2+2 versions with a small rear bench. Production specs, battery capacity, power output and pricing haven’t been revealed yet. Production of the new A110 is set to stay in Dieppe, France.
