Vauxhall Astra Without Hybrid Is Cheaper: Price Drops to £27,495 media.stellantis.com

Vauxhall brought back a pure petrol engine for the Astra hatchback and Sports Tourer in the UK, cutting the entry price by £2,500 compared to the hybrid, EV and PHEV versions.

Vauxhall has expanded the updated Astra line-up in the UK by bringing back a regular petrol engine without hybrid assistance. This has cut the entry price of the hatchback and Sports Tourer estate from £29,995 to £27,495. Until now, the electric, hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions were all priced the same.

Under the bonnet sits the familiar 1.2-litre three-cylinder turbo from the pre-facelift car, producing 130hp. For now it only comes paired with an eight-speed automatic gearbox. According to the outlet, a six-speed manual could return later in 2026, though this hasn’t been officially confirmed. Fuel consumption is rated at 5.8L/100km.

The base Griffin trim includes adaptive cruise control, LED headlights, front and rear parking sensors, heated front seats and steering wheel, plus keyless entry. The GS trim starts at £28,995 (€33,924), while Ultimate starts at £31,495 (€36,849). Any paint colour other than black metallic adds £650 (€760.5).

32CARS.RU previously reported that Vauxhall plans to bring back a sportier Astra as a 280hp electric GSE.
