The premium BYD brand brings its first European SUV, a 544 hp DMO plug-in hybrid. Orders open this summer, deliveries in Q4 2026.
Premium brand Denza, part of the BYD group, is bringing its large BAO 5 off-roader to the European market. The model was shown at the Goodwood Festival of Speed 2026, with European orders due to open as early as this summer. First customer deliveries are expected in the fourth quarter of 2026.
The Denza BAO 5 is built on the DMO platform, developed for electrified off-roaders. At its core is a body-on-frame construction, double-wishbone suspension front and rear, three electronic differentials and all-wheel drive. The Ultimate version additionally gets the DiSus-P hydraulic system, which can vary ground clearance by up to 31 cm.

The powertrain pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with two electric motors, one on each axle. Combined output reaches 544 hp and 760 Nm. The sprint to 100 km/h takes 4.8 seconds, while top speed is capped at 180 km/h.
A Blade LFP battery with 31.8 kWh of capacity delivers up to 90 km of electric range on the WLTP cycle, with a total claimed range of 835 km. Charging is supported at up to 11 kW on AC and up to 100 kW on DC. European pricing has not yet been announced.
