BMW positions ALPINA between its flagships and Rolls-Royce. The B7 and XB7 arrive in 2027, focused on comfort and power rather than M-style track stiffness.
BMW is preparing to relaunch ALPINA in a new role. The brand’s first models after moving fully under BMW control will arrive in 2027 — the ALPINA B7 based on the updated 7 Series and the ALPINA XB7 built on the next-generation X7.
The twist is that the production cars will barely echo the recent ALPINA concept. According to available information, the B7 and XB7 were designed before that show car debuted, so what carries over is mostly the badge, the signature script, unique wheels, cabin trim and the overall take on luxury.
BMW plans to position ALPINA as a distinct “luxury layer” between its standard flagships and Rolls-Royce. That means the focus is not on M-style track stiffness but on strong engines, a smooth ride, rich materials and calmer long-distance manners.
The B7 is expected in six- and eight-cylinder forms. A fully electric version based on the i7 isn’t planned at launch. The question of a stretched wheelbase is still open, even though the current 7 Series already spans 3215 mm between the axles. After the B7 and XB7, BMW could add an even larger luxury SUV to rival the Mercedes-Maybach GLS.
