Carado CV595 X-Edition: a compact 4x4 camper built for bad roads

Carado CV595 X-Edition: compact 4x4 camper on the VW Crafter carado.com

Carado turns the Volkswagen Crafter into a compact all-wheel-drive camper: 163 hp, an 8-speed automatic, a new fibreglass high roof and 1.98 m of standing height.

Carado has revealed a more adventure-ready version of its compact camper based on the Volkswagen Crafter. The CV595 X-Edition is built on the Crafter 4Motion and combines all-wheel drive, a 163 hp engine and an 8-speed automatic.

At 5.99 m long, the camper stays reasonably easy to live with day to day. Inside there are four homologated seats, and two or three people can sleep on board. A transverse double bed with extensions sits at the rear, offering up to 2 m of usable length.

The version’s main feature is a new fibreglass high roof. It replaces the Crafter’s standard roof and raises the interior height to 1.98 m. Inside you also get illuminated overhead lockers, a sliding partition between the living and sleeping areas, a mosquito-net system, the Forest Shadow decor, a compact bathroom, a folding sink and a pull-out fridge.

The setup isn’t meant for serious off-roading but for rough roads, forest tracks and pitches away from asphalt. Alongside all-wheel drive, there is a self-locking rear differential. Options include Loder tyres, Delta 4x4 wheels, a protective bull bar, an electric step and a winter package with insulated and heated tanks.
