Geely is no longer relying only on Volvo, Polestar, Smart, Lotus and Zeekr in Germany — the core brand now arrives with two SUVs and an eight-year warranty.
Chinese Geely is strengthening its presence in Germany not just through Volvo, Polestar, Smart, Lotus or Zeekr anymore. According to German media, the company is launching its own Geely Auto brand on the German market, starting with two SUVs — the all-electric E5/EX5 and the plug-in hybrid Starray EM-i.
The electric Geely E5 is built on the global electric architecture GEA (Global Electric Architecture). The official Geely Deutschland website lists a range of 430 km on the WLTP cycle, 0 to 100 km/h in 6.9 seconds and fast charging from 30 to 80% in roughly 20 minutes. As 32CARS reported earlier, the model starts at 37,990 euros in Germany.
The second car is the Starray EM-i. This plug-in hybrid claims a combined WLTP range of 943 km, an electric-only range of 83 km and combined fuel consumption of 2.4 l/100 km. Its starting price, according to ecomento, is 32,990 euros. Geely is also betting on trust: for the German market it guarantees the car for 8 years or 200,000 km, with the traction battery included in the coverage.
