Mercedes-AMG has brought a new take on its iconic off-roader to Australia: the G 63 Offroad PRO. In essence, this version turns the G-Wagen into an armored machine for millionaires, feeling equally at ease in downtown Sydney and on the tracks of the Simpson Desert.

Under the hood sits the familiar 4.0‑liter twin-turbo V8 with 585 hp and 850 Nm, paired with a 48‑volt starter-generator that delivers an extra 15 kW and 200 Nm under acceleration. A 9‑speed automatic handles shifting, while permanent all-wheel drive puts the power down. The sprint to 100 km/h takes about 4.5 seconds, and top speed reaches 240 km/h.

The headline change is the AMG ACTIVE RIDE CONTROL suspension with hydraulic roll stabilization, increased suspension travel, and revised damper tuning. AMG Traction PRO and Active Balance Control let the driver choose dedicated settings for sand, mud, and rocks, while also allowing adjustment of anti-roll bar stiffness. It reads like a factory-built off-road toolkit rather than a cosmetic package.

On the outside, the G 63 Offroad PRO is easy to spot thanks to 20‑inch AMG wheels, all-terrain tires, an aluminum roof rack, and a ladder on the rear door. In Australia, the price is set at 383,900 AUD including taxes, excluding on-road costs. The model is a local-market exclusive, blending expedition-grade capability with the comfort expected of AMG.
