Hyundai i20 N Shadow Edition: a 100-Car Send-off Before the Manual Hot Hatch Bows Out

Hyundai sends off the i20 N with an Australia-only Shadow Edition limited to 100 cars: bronze wheels, Alcantara trim, and the same 201 hp 1.6 turbo with a six-speed manual.
Hyundai is preparing a farewell version of the i20 N for Australia. According to Carscoops, the special series is called the Shadow Edition and will be limited to just 100 cars. It’s not a new generation or a technical revolution, but a final flourish for the compact hot hatch with a combustion engine and a manual gearbox, which has been on sale in Australia for five years.
The main thing setting the version apart is its trim. The i20 N Shadow Edition is offered in only two body colours: Atlas White and Phantom Black. The car gets 18-inch matte bronze forged wheels with Pirelli P Zero tyres, black wheel nuts, bronze decals on the lower doors, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and gear lever, plus a numbered bronze plaque on the dashboard and bespoke floor mats with a tread pattern that mirrors the tyres. Under the skin, nothing serious has changed: the car keeps the familiar 1.6-litre turbo with 201 hp and 275 Nm, front-wheel drive with a limited-slip differential and a six-speed manual. That simple, honest recipe is exactly what made the i20 N one of the liveliest compact hot hatches of recent years.

The context matters more than the special edition itself. In Europe, the petrol-powered i20 N and i30 N were dropped from production back in early 2024 as Hyundai pivoted to electrified performance cars. Australia was one of the last markets where you could still buy these cars, but stock is running out there too. The Shadow Edition looks like a tidy farewell to the affordable era of Hyundai N.
