Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and Overland: the off-road duo is back for 2027

Jeep is bringing the Grand Cherokee Trailhawk and Overland back into the 2027 lineup. And it isn’t just a badge swap: Trailhawk is once again the most capable version, while Overland targets buyers who want trail readiness, leather and comfort in the same SUV.

The Trailhawk gets the new 2.0-liter Hurricane 4 Turbo with 324 hp and 450 Nm of torque. It is paired with an 8-speed automatic, while the off-road duties are handled by Quadra-Trac II with low range, Selec-Terrain with Rock mode, Quadra-Lift air suspension, a rear electronic locking differential and 30.5-inch Goodyear Territory All-Terrain tires. Ground clearance reaches 290 mm, with approach, breakover and departure angles of 36, 24.4 and 30.3 degrees respectively. Maximum tow rating climbs to 2,812 kg.

You can spot a Trailhawk by its red tow hooks, matte hood decal, 18-inch wheels and underbody armor: six steel skid plates protect the engine, transmission, transfer case, suspension and fuel tank. Inside it brings Nappa leather, red stitching and a 12.3-inch display.

The Overland takes a different route. It also has Quadra-Trac II, Quadra-Lift, hill-descent control and Off-Road Pages, but the emphasis shifts toward the premium side: 21-inch wheels, black lower body elements, silver accents, Overland-embossed Nappa leather, ventilated front seats, heated rear seats and a surround-view camera with washer.

Jeep will announce pricing later, with production set for the Detroit Assembly Complex — Mack plant.

Jeep is once again splitting two audiences: some want maximum suspension travel and protection, others want the same character without giving up a comfortable cabin.
