Renault signals battery options for the Twingo EV, targeting longer range up to 500 km. Plus LFP rumors, AmpR Small platform and safety-focused updates.

Renault has confirmed that the electric Twingo could, in time, arrive with new battery choices and a longer driving range. Today the model carries a 27.5 kWh pack and is rated for up to 263 km on the WLTP cycle, while remaining the brand’s most affordable EV. Yet growing interest in versions that go farther is pushing the company to consider broadening the offer.

Paula Fabregat-Andreu, who oversees Renault projects in the A and B segments, said the family of urban, retro-inspired models will be actively developed and updated. That includes special editions and variants with different batteries that could let the petite French car cover as much as 500 km. The direction matches rumors of an upcoming LFP battery for the R5 and R4, which share the AmpR Small platform.

Renault adds that the new Twingo’s larger footprint stems from a reinforced structure and stricter safety demands. Stretching to 3.79 meters has made room for more protection systems and contemporary electronics—an evolution that reads like a sensible trade-off for everyday use.

The company also hints that the retro line might grow with fresh takes on classics. In other words, Twingo may not be the final stop.
